These school holidays, focus on the idea of predictability, rather than structure.
This is how I rolled these holidays just passed. And let me tell you, the predictability REALLY helped!
Brains love to predict, and absolutely LOVE it when what’s predicted, plays out as planned.
What the brain doesn’t love so much (ok, at all) is when it’s predicted something and that thing doesn’t happen as planned. (Enter that feeling you get when your friend cancels the coffee date, when the leftovers you were dreaming of in the fridge have already been eaten, when someone changes the playlist or packs the dishwasher the wrong way).
Can you relate?
THAT horrid feeling comes from a brain that is NOT impressed with an unexpected change to the plan.
It wants predictability.
So if routine & structure fall in your too hard basket? Switch your focus to predictability.
